About FranScript

Franscript was formed in 2006 to produce exhibitions, lectures and courses, books and DVDs 'to enhance our understanding of eighteenth century history'.

About Wyre Forest Press

Wyre Forest Press was established in 1992 to publish social history titles written by Frances Wilkins. Since then, over 40 books and booklets about the 18th century have been added to the list. They include series about south-west Scotland, the Isle of Man and Cumbria.

Three titles are now out of print: The Isle of Man in Smuggling History, 2,000 Manx Mariners and Dumfries & Galloway's Smuggling Story.

The remaining books can be purchased directly from this website.

2020: the impact of the coronavirus

2020, VisitScotland's Year of Coasts and Waters, would have seen a series of smuggling exhibitions starting at Annan in April and ending at Dundonald in October. Book launches and smuggling trails were also planned. All this is postponed. The books will be published whenever possible. Plans are underway to convert the smuggling trails to online events.
